Drawing made shortly after returning from Tokyo, Osaka & Kyoto. Mostly based around endless walks through Shibuya, Akihabara, Ikebukuro & Harijuku neighbourhoods, the lines developed by their own admission: each neon sign informing the next. That there are both versions of the print from both the daytime and nightime are in subtle reference to Haruki Murakami's novella, After Dark which reads, “Between the time the last train leaves and the first train arrives, the place changes: it's not the same as in daytime.” Fascinated in Japan long before even traveling to Tokyo, I felt it essential to somehow weave this into the print edition. Original drawing by hand. 42cm x 60cm Signed, dated & numbered. Limited print edition of 20 printed on Freja 265g Unframed 2016. It should be also noted that day and night sushi service in Tokyo is speedy. *
